Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Housing Navigator is responsible for connecting with landlords with affordable housing and connecting clients with permanent housing. The housing navigator is to identify permanent housing for participants in Inspire Together qualifying participants. The housing navigator works directly with Case Managers and other service providers who have screened participants for housing including employment and income. The housing navigator is responsible for locating housing options, developing relationships with landlords and property management companies as well as facilitating the application process along with the CM and participant. They will assist the case manager with housing selection, budgeting and finding needed low-income supportive services in the community.
Job Duties:
You have a strong knowledge of low-income housing resources, emergency shelter, transitional housing, ILP services, probation, social supportive services, welfare, legal, corrections, benefits, health care, substance abuse, alcoholism, mental health care, and other systems associated with target population.
You have a strong ability to advocate effectively on behalf of low-income and/or homeless clients/participants.
You have a bachelor’s degree in social services or have two (2) years of relevant social services experience.
You are experienced in the delivery of social services to homeless and/or low-income individuals, including youth.
You can multi-task multiple participants permanent housing.
A valid California Driver License is required, along with current automobile and liability insurance with reliable transportation.
You must be passionate about serving the community with an emphasis on (youth).
Must be able to pass a background check and clearance
Requirements:
Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
Valid California driver’s license, acceptable proof of automobile insurance, and/or reliable mode of transportation Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance
Completion of CPR/First Aid certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment
Associate’s degree or (2) years’ equivalent experience
Ability to effectively supervise, demonstrate good judgment and communicate well, especially with participants, staff and the community
Requires positive attitude and good interpersonal skills Requires good organizational skills, prioritization of task/duties
Ability, speed, and accuracy to handle paperwork expeditiously
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work (or related discipline) or a combination of relevant experience (2 years)
