May 2026: Upcoming Events & Opportunities

We are excited to share several upcoming opportunities for our community!

UPDATE: There will NOT be Career Readiness Workshops during Memorial Day week (5/25, 5/27). Our next workshop after May 20 will be on June 8.

We also invite you to join us for our ongoing Florence-Firestone Career Readiness workshops every Monday and Wednesday from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Florence-Firestone Tech Center (located in the Roosevelt Park Senior Center), where participants can receive resume-building support, career training, and tools to prepare for their next opportunity.

In addition, we are highlighting new job pathways such as the HTA Hospitality Training Program (HTA), which prepares individuals for careers in the hospitality and food service industry. HTA is dedicated to building a strong workforce across Southern California and Arizona, helping participants move toward economic independence through meaningful careers, with graduates going on to work at employers like LAX, USC, and SoFi Stadium.

USPS is hiring for multiple roles and is also hosting a job fair on May 29th from 8am - 1pm at 7001 S Central Ave, Los Angeles, CA. This is a great opportunity to meet USPS recruiters and learn about their open positions. Learn more about their open roles at the USPS website.

Inspire Together is providing free lunch through our Summer Lunch Program to youth starting June 15 to August 30. Register at the link below.

Inspire Together offers connection to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) also offered are prevention and education workshops focused on harm reduction, trauma informed care, community healing, and LGBTQIA+ support. These workshops are available both in person and virtually to best serve community organizations and participants. Services include MAT and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) education, prevention programming, the TINAD (This Is Not About Drugs) curriculum, and connections to recovery and community resources. We also facilitate healing-centered activities such as trauma-informed yoga, meditation, healing circles, creative expression workshops, open mic sessions, and other wellness-based events tailored to the needs of each organization and population served.

Per Scholas Los Angeles is offering a Digital Navigators Program to support residents in building confidence in digital literacy, including foundational AI skills. Sessions are available in both English and Spanish, and no prior experience is needed to participate.
